What rate is used to automatically generate labor transactions in Work Order

Resolution

The planned cost (not the employee rate) is used when the Auto Generate Labor Transactions feature is used. Therefore, the planned cost entered when creating the operation code should be as accurate as possible. To define the planned cost:

1. Open Work Order, Set Up, Operation Code Maintenance.
2. Select a Work Center and an Operation Code.
3.  In the Standard Cost Rate area, enter the correct amount in the Planned Cost field.
4.  Click Accept.

The advantage of defining production rates for each machine is that any addition or reduction of available equipment can be accounted for by adjusting the standard hours available without changing any operation codes. Another way to adjust the scheduling is to change the efficiency percentage.
The advantage of defining production rates for each work center is that the standard hours available in a work center on a normal work schedule can be defined without adjusting for equipment changes. Use the work center efficiency percentage to reflect temporary changes in available equipment.
The disadvantage of defining production rates for each work center is that any permanent change in the amount of available equipment requires changing the production rate information for all operation codes defined for the work center.
For example:

• A work center has 4 pressing machines in operation.
•  Each machine can perform 10 pressing operations in an hour.

If the production rate for operation codes for this work center is defined on the basis of a single machine (for example, operations per hour equals 10), enter the following at the Work Center Maintenance* window:

• Standard Hours Available in Work Center = 32
• Number of Workers/Machines = 4

• Standard Hours Available in Work Center = 8
• Number of Workers/Machines = 1
