Unable to save a Suppression Formula in Crystal Reports 2020
Cause
This is a known SAP Crystal Reports issue for version 2020 which was released with Sage 100 2023.0

How to use Formula Workshop method to modify an existing suppression formula in a Crystal Report
Perform the following steps in Crystal Reports Designer:
- Select Report, Formula Workshop
- Expand “Formatting Formulas”
- Expand section that contains field that has suppression formula to be edited
- Expand field that has suppression formula to be edited
- Select “Suppress”
- Formula will display and be available to edit
- After editing formula, click “Save and close” at top left corner to save changes
How to use Formula Workshop method to create a new suppression formula in a Crystal Report
Perform the following steps in Crystal Reports Designer:
- Select Report, Formula Workshop
- Expand “Formatting Formulas”
- Expand section that contains field where suppression formula is needed
- Right-click field where suppression formula is needed and select “New Formatting Formula…”
- Under “New Formatting Formula”, choose “Suppress” from dropdown and click “Use Editor”
- Enter suppression formula and click “Save and close” at top left corner to save changes
Steps to duplicate
- In Crystal Reports 2020, open a report.
- Insert a Text Object on the report.
- Right-click on the Text Object, and select “Format”
- In the Format Editor window, under the tab “Common” click on the “X-2” button of the option
“Suppress” - Enter a conditional suppression formula, and click on “Save and Close”
- Back to the Format Editor, notice the formula icon on the right side of the Suppress option turns
red. - Close the Format Editor window.
- The Conditional Suppression formula disappeared.
