The PVX Object init failed or PVX Object init failed to run in Sage 100
Description
Error: “The PVX Object init failed” or “PVX Object init failed to run” when installing or upgrading Sage 100
Cause
InstallShield cannot complete its process because the registry or the InstallShield files are incorrect, damaged, or in use. This may result from multiple installations of the same version, multiple installation attempts, or network file locking issues.
Share and NTFS Permissions are too restrictive on the MAS90 folder
Resolution
- Activate.pvx is corrupt or missing
- Verify that “..\MAS90\Home\Lib\Keys\Activate.pvx” is present and the client can be launched from pvxwin32.exe
- Go to “..\MAS90\Home” and double-click Pvxwin32.exe
- In the new ProvideX command prompt window, type the following and press the Enter key to see if a login prompt appears: RUN “Startup.M4P”
- If necessary replace Activate.pvx with a valid copy
- Verify that “..\MAS90\Home\Lib\Keys\Activate.pvx” is present and the client can be launched from pvxwin32.exe
- Run Pvxcom.exe
- For 32-bit servers,it is in”C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sage\Common Components”
- For 64-bit servers,it is in”C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage\Common Components”
- Rename the Runtime folder located at:
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\Install Shield\Professional\Runtime\
- Rename the Uninstall Information folder located in the “..\MAS90” directory on the server
- Reinstall Sage 100 ERP
- Note: Registration keys must be re-entered
- Security permissions
- For the install process give users full control for both security and share permissions to the mas90 folder, once Sage is installed then you can try limiting the permissions.
- Example: A customer’s login has full permissions for the UNC path. But they have only “Read Only” permissions for the mapped drive letter (e.g. “D:\”) and the path to the “MAS90” directory.
For new installations, be sure to remove all remnants of any previous Sage 100 ERP installations, including those that might have failed. For Sage 100 ERP 2013 and above, verify there is not a copy of the software already installed. If there is, remove it from Add/Remove Programs in Windows then restart the installation.
