How to setup and enable or disable Debug or Tracing for the Sage 100 SOTAMAS90 DSN or other DSNs

Resolution

Note: Tracing or Debug log files can become very large, very quickly. Only enable Tracing or Debug if there is a specific, well-defined reason to do so.

To set up and enable or disable Tracing for DSNs:

  1. Use Windows Explorer to access the ODBC Data Source Administrator for the User DSN (such as SOTAMAS90):
    • If the Windows operating system is 64-bit and the DSN is 32-bit, use Windows Explorer to
      access: “C:\Windows\SysWOW64”
    • If the Windows operating system is 64-bit and the DSN is 64-bit. OR, if the Windows
      operating system is 32-bit, use Windows Explorer to access: “C:\Windows\System32”
  2. Right-click odbcad32.exe to reveal a right-click context menu
  3. Select Run as administrator to open ODBC Data Source Administrator
  4. Access the User DSN tab
  5. Select SOTAMAS90 (or another desired DSN)
  6. Access the Tracing tab
  7. Verify and note the Log File Path, or click Browse.. to change it
  8. Click the Start Tracing Now button to start tracing.
  9. If tracing is currently started and it is not desired, click the Stop Tracing Now button to stop tracing.
  10. Click OK to exit ODBC Data Source Administrator

To set up and enable or disable Debug log for the SOTAMAS90 DSN (a feature of this specific DSN):

  1. Use Windows Explorer to access the ODBC Data Source Administrator for the SOTAMAS90 User DSN:
    • If the Windows operating system is 64-bit and the DSN is 32-bit, use Windows Explorer to
      access: “C:\Windows\SysWOW64”
    • If the Windows operating system is 64-bit and the DSN is 64-bit. OR, if the Windows
      operating system is 32-bit, use Windows Explorer to access: “C:\Windows\System32”
  2. Right-click odbcad32.exe to reveal a right-click context menu
  3. Select Run as administrator to open ODBC Data Source Administrator
  4. Access the User DSN tab
  5. Select SOTAMAS90 (or another desired DSN)
  6. Click the Configure button to access ProvideX ODBC Driver Setup
  7. Access the Debug tab
  8. Select (check) the Enable Debug checkbox
    vVerify and note the Log File name, or click Browse.. to change the path and name.
  9. If debug is currently enabled and it is not desired, then deselect (uncheck) the Enable Debug checkbox to stop debug logging.
  10. Click OK to exit ProvideX ODBC Driver Setup
  11. Click OK to exit ODBC Data Source Administrator
