How to setup Auto Earnings in Sage 100
Resolution
Use Automatic Earnings Code Maintenance to set up multiple earnings codes for each employee. The earnings codes can then be used to automatically create Payroll Data Entry line entries using the Auto Pay feature.
- Open Payroll, Main, Employee Maintenance
- Select the applicable employee
- Click the Wages tab
- Select the Multiple Automatic Earnings Codes check box and click Auto Earnings button
- Enter or select the following and click OK
- Earnings Code
- Automatic Earning -Select this check box to include the earnings code in the employee’s pay calculation.
- Frequency- Type the period number(s) in which the earnings code is to be automatically included in the employee’s pay calculation. The value in this field will be matched with the value selected at the Deduction/Earnings Period field in the Pay Cycle window to determine whether or not the earnings code is included. If you want the earnings code included for every pay period, type 12345.
- Department -Enter a department or click the Lookup button to list all departments.
- Calculation- Select Fixed Amount or Percentage. This field displays Fixed Amount and can only be viewed if Fixed Amount is the method of entry for the selected earnings code.
- Allocation- Type a percentage amount to adjust the value at the Payment Amount field. This field is available only if Percentage is selected at the Calculation field.
- Pay Rate to Use- Select one of the pay rates defined in Employee Maintenance, or select None to enter a rate at the Pay Rate field. This field can only be viewed if the earnings code has a method of Fixed Amount or if Fixed Amount is selected at the Calculation field.
- Pay Rate- Type a pay rate. This field is only available if the Pay Rate to Use is None
- Hours-Type the number of hours to use in the Payment Amount calculation. This field can only be viewed if the selected earnings code has a method of Fixed Amount.
- Payment Amount-Type a pay amount.
- Earnings Limit – Type the maximum amount that an employee can earn for the selected earnings code. When this limit is reached, the earnings code will no longer be added when the Auto Pay calculation is performed.
