How to Apply a Credit Memo to an AR invoice in Sage 100
Resolution
To apply a credit memo to an AR invoice in Sage 100
- Select Accounts Receivable Main menu > Cash Receipts Entry. If you have batch processing enabled, the Cash Receipts Entry Batch window appears. Enter the batch number and click Accept.
- In the Cash Receipts Deposit window, enter the deposit number, description, bank code, and deposit date.
- In the Cash Deposit Amount field, enter the deposit amount (this amount can be zero if no cash is received) and click Accept.
- In Cash Receipts Entry, enter the customer number.
- In the Check No. field, type Apply or Make up a Check Number. This is the reference so a good description for the Check Number is helpful.
- In the Amount Received field, enter the amount received, or 0 if no cash is received.
- Click the Lines tab.
- To apply a credit memo for an open item customer, select the credit memo and then the invoice(s) that the credit memo will be applied against.
- The total should be zero if no cash is received (credit memo negative and invoice positive). For example, credit memo of -$10.00 is being applied to a total invoice amount of $10)
- Click Accept and update the Cash Receipts Journal.
