How to add a segment to a Sage 300 General Ledger account

Resolution

To add a new segment to an existing account, follow the steps below:

  1. In General Ledger, click G/L Setup, then Options.
    The G/L Options screen will appear.
    • Click the Segments tab.
    • Add a new segment.
      From your keyboard, press the F1 key for more information on how to add segments in the Segment tab.
    • Click Save.
  2. In General Ledger, click G/L Setup, then Segment Codes.
    The G/L Segment Codes screen will appear.
    • In the Segment Name list, select the segment you created.
    • Add your Segment Code.
      From your keyboard, press the F1 key for more information on how to add you Segment Codes in the G/L Segments Codes screen.
    • Click Save.
  3. In General Ledger, click G/L Setup, then Account Structures.
    The G/L Account Structures screen will appear.
    • Click the New icon to create a new account structure.
    • Recreate the existing account structure for the account number is using and then add the new segment to it.
      From your keyboard, press the F1 key for more information on how to create Account Structures in the G/L Account Structures screen.
    • Click Save.
  4. In General Ledger, click Account Code Change then Account Code Change.
    The Account Code Change screen will appear.
  5. Click New.
    The New screen will appear.
  6. Under Action, select the Change option.
  7. Under Change, select the General Ledger account you want to change.
  8. Under to, select the new Structure Code.
  9. From the Segment Code list, select a segment code to append to the existing account.
  10. Type the original Account Code.
  11. Click OK.
    The New screen will disappear and the Account Code screen will reappear.
  12. Click Post to change
