How to retain, restore, or purge Job Cost history for closed jobs in Sage 100 ERP
As of Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage MAS 90 and 200) version 4.05, history records for “Closed” jobs can be archived to history files instead of being purged during J/C Period End Processing or when using the ‘Purge/Archive Close Job’ option. On earlier versions, all history for closed jobs was automatically purged during period-end processing.

Resolution

To begin retaining job cost history after jobs are closed, perform the following:

  1. Open Job Cost, Setup menu, Job Cost Options
  2. Click the Additional tab
  3. Select the “Retain Job Cost History” check box
  4. Click Accept

To restore job cost history information for a closed job:
(Note: Jobs purged from history are permanently deleted from the system and cannot be restored.)

  1. Open Job Cost, Period End menu, Job Cost History Restore Utility
  2. Enter the Job Number and Status Date range(s), if needed
  3. Click Proceed

To purge job cost history information for a closed job from the Job Cost history files (JC_H1, JC_H2, JC_H3):
(Note: Jobs purged from history are permanently deleted from the system and cannot be restored.)

  1. Open Job Cost, Period End menu, Job Cost History Purge Utility
  2. Enter the Job Number and Status Date range(s), if needed
  3. Click Proceed

Notes:

  • Transactions cannot be posted to history files. Restore a job to the active files if a transaction must be posted to a closed job.
  • For more information, Click the ‘Help’ button in Job Cost Options, click the ‘Additional’ link, and then click the ‘Retain Job Cost History’ link.
