Description
How to move FRx to a new location.
Resolution
Fat Client Setup:
In a fat client environment, FRx does not need to be reinstalled on client workstations.
- Have all users close all FRx applications.
- Create the new SysData directory in its new location. Be sure to leave the existing SysData directory intact.
- Copy all files from the existing SysData directory to the new SysData directory.
- Launch FRx Designer on one computer.
- From within Designer, select Admin, Organization
- Click Sysdata button.
- Type or select the new SysData path in the New Directory dialog box.
- Select the Update Current User Only radio button, and click Ok.
- Note: As of FRx 6.7.10343, this procedure affects only the current user. The option to automatically update all users or update for current users is no longer available.
- The ‘Update Current User Only’ option changes the SysData directory for only the current user. Select this option to change the directory for each user manually. You may wish to do this if you want to remove the existing SysData directory immediately after completing these steps.
- A message displays stating that FRx will exit after the change is made; click Ok
- Repeat steps 4-8 for all remaining workstations.
- Launch FRx Report Designer
- If the Import/Export paths for all companies do not need to be changed, skip to step 17. Otherwise, select Company, Information.
- Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first company.
- Type or select the new Import/Export path, and click Save
- Repeat steps 10-14 for all remaining companies
- Click Close to close the Company Information window.
- Select Company, Specification Sets.
- Click the far-left arrow button to move to the first specification set.
- Type or select the new location in the Location field. Be sure to leave the file name intact (“as is”)
- Click Save
- A message may appear stating that the spec set exists in the new location, and asking if you wish to overwrite. Click No
- Repeat steps 15-19 for each remaining specification set.
