An asterisks prints on Sage 100 Payroll Quarterly Tax Report

Description

An asterisks prints on Sage 100 Payroll Quarterly Tax Report

Cause

An asterisk (*) is printed in the VAR column on the Quarterly Tax Report, when a variance between the calculated tax amount and the actual tax amount withheld is detected. The variance must be at least $.05 for the asterisk to print.

Resolution

  • On Federal Reports, the asterisk indicates a variance between the amount of employee FICA (Social Security) tax withheld and the calculated amount of wages subject to employee FICA multiplied by the current employee FICA tax rate currently setup in Tax Table Maintenance. The asterisk is also printed if there is a variance between the amount of employee Medicare tax withheld and the calculated tax amount.
  • On State and Local Reports, the asterisk indicates a variance between the amount of employee SDI/LDI tax withheld and the calculated amount of wages subject to employee SDI/LDI multiplied by the current employee SDI/LDI tax rate currently setup in Tax Table Maintenance.

Note: For the 1st (first), 2nd (second), and 3rd (third) quarters, the Quarterly Tax Report lists only employees with earnings for that quarter. The Year-to-Date totals, however, include all earnings for all employees.

When the Quarterly Tax Report is printed for the 4th (fourth) quarter, all employees that have had any earnings for the year are included on the report.
